Sukkot 5787 begins at sundown on Friday, September 25, 2026 — which makes this one of those years where Yom Tov leads straight into Shabbos, and there is zero room for a late delivery. Here's the calendar, and the ordering timeline that keeps Erev Yom Tov calm.
The Sukkot 2026 calendar
- Yom Kippur: Monday, September 21, 2026
- First night of Sukkot: Friday evening, September 25, 2026 (candle lighting before sundown — and it's also Shabbos)
- Yom Tov (first days): Sept 26–27
- Chol Hamoed: Sept 28 – Oct 1
- Hoshana Rabbah: Friday, October 2
- Shemini Atzeres / Simchas Torah: Oct 2–4
Many families follow the custom of starting to build the sukkah right after Yom Kippur — that gives you four days, September 21–24, to have it standing.
Working backwards: when to order
Our orders ship by ground from Kiryas Joel, NY and most arrive in about 4 business days or less — the checkout shows the exact carrier and transit time for your address before you pay. Working backwards from a Sept 21 build date:
- Order by Sunday, September 13 — comfortable: your sukkah is waiting when you get home from Yom Kippur.
- Order by Wednesday, September 16 — still fine for most of the Northeast and Midwest (1–2 day transit).
- After September 18 — possible for nearby zones, but you're cutting it close; consider local pickup in Kiryas Joel.
The real reason to order early isn't shipping — it's stock. Popular sizes (8×10, 8×12, 10×12) and matching schach mats sell through every Elul. The buyers who order in August pick their exact size; the ones who order Erev Sukkos pick from what's left.
What to have in the cart
- Your sukkah — use the size guide if you're between sizes
- Schach — flat bamboo mats sized to the sukkah (or choose a "With Schach" kit and it's matched automatically)
- Lighting — Yom Tov meals run into the night
- Seating — tables, benches and chairs that fold away after the chag
One order, one delivery, everything in hand before Yom Kippur — that's the whole strategy. Shop sukkahs →
